In 2010, Governor Mitch Daniels took $300 million out of Indiana’s Education budget–a cut schools have been struggling with for over 2 years in the form of teacher lay-offs, overcrowded classrooms, and cuts to extracurricular activities. This December, a large amount of general revenue, “lost” due to an electronic accounting error– was “discovered” floating around the books. The amount? $300 million. But it isn’t going back into our schools.
